At Concord, we believe church is a place to worship, wonder, grow, serve, and belong. We gather around the traditions of Christian worship while making room for questions, creativity, diverse music, and the many ways God is at work among us.
People of all ages are part of the life of our congregation. Children are not simply the future of the church — they are part of the church now. And whether you have been Presbyterian your whole life, are returning to church after time away, are exploring faith for the first time, or aren’t quite sure what you believe, there is room for you here.

Our StoryThroughout our history, Concord has witnessed to the gospel through joyful worship and excellent music; care for one another; mission and outreach; study and prayer; ministries with children and youth; Concord Preschool and Childcare; and welcome and affirmation of LGBTQIA+ people.
Concord’s story began in 1952 as the northern New Castle County suburbs were growing rapidly. The Rev. Henry L. Jacobs began visiting homes throughout Fairfax and the surrounding communities, and the first regular worship service was held in a former shoe repair store in the Fairfax Shopping Center.
Concord was officially organized on October 22, 1952, with 53 charter members. The Chapel was completed in 1955, followed by educational and office space. The Sanctuary was completed in 1958 and features a three-foot Celtic cross carved from solid cherry by Henry Jacobs. Fellowship Hall and additional classrooms were completed in 1969.
What began in a storefront grew into a congregation committed to worship, music, learning, care, justice, and service.
